Stress is the body’s natural response to danger and to threats in the environment.  But stress is not always logical (our problems seldom are).  And a stress response can become a habit - if this happens you will find that you develop a habitual response (or over reaction) to the smallest of things. It can be very harmful and is certainly unpleasant to experience on a regular basis.  Normal counselling and behavioural change models assume that talking about your problems will help fix your problems. The problem with that is that if the problem is not logical - then you could talk about it till the cows come home and it still won't make any difference.
