If the flight or fight response has been activated, your body has been flooded with adrenaline.  But if there was no real threat it will take time for the arousal experienced to settle down.  It makes sense then that some form of exercise that simulates the ‘flight’ response will help get rid of the physical symptoms of anxiety in a safe way allowing the feelings to settle more quickly.  It also makes sense that if you realise that a panic attack is underway, the easiest form of self-help is to exercise.
